Ever wondered where the fixboot or fixmbr command is in Windows Vista and Windows 7?
In Windows 7 to repair a damaged master boot record or restore Windows
Vista boot.ini, from the Windows Recovery Environment run the command
"Bootrec.exe /fixboot" or "Bootrec.exe /fixmbr"
Still can find it? Try changing to the windows directory by typing
"x:\cd windows"
x being your current drive letter, you may also want to run the commands
"Bootrec.exe /ScanOs"
that option scans all disks for installations that are compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Additionally, this option displays the entries that are currently not in the BCD store.
Additionally, this option displays the entries that are currently not in the BCD store.
Next up is the /RebuildBcd option scans all disks for installations that are compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7. Additionally, this option lets you select the installations that you want to add to the BCD store.
Hope someone finds this helpful.
